LEAF Coalition

Emergent is the coordinator of the LEAF Coalition, a unique public-private partnership bringing together forest governments, the private sector, donor governments, Indigenous Peoples and local communities and civil society to raise and deploy the finance needed to tackle deforestation at scale.

To date, LEAF has raised over $1 billion in public and private sector commitments and signed agreements with forest governments worth up to $300 million.

LEAF's results based payments model incentivizes action at scale, with advance payments available to help forest governments overcome financial and technical barriers to accelerate access to climate finance.

The LEAF Coalition only purchases high-integrity forest carbon credits from jurisdictional programs that meet the stringent criteria of the robust and independent ART TREES Standard, guaranteeing the highest levels of environmental integrity and social safeguards.

LEAF also employs strict buyers’ criteria to ensure that all action taken by buyers is in addition to science-aligned action to decarbonize value chains, supporting the goals of the Paris Agreement.
